As testing has become more and more important, testers should aim at testing a system as thoroughly as possible. However, resources available for testing (both economically and in the sense of available hardware) are limited. One of the methods to overcome this problem may be coverage testing. By letting a test suite (partially) satisfy one or more coverage metrics, a tester knows how thoroughly a system is tested. Moreover, it allows the tester to determine when he has put enough effort into the test suite so that it meets his quality demands. However, coverage testing has not proved itself yet in practice. Therefore, industrial validation is required. In this talk I will give a short introduction to coverage testing and present the results of using several coverage metrics in three different industrial case studies.
